YOUR THOUGHTSWe at BIRCHALL CONSULTING value your feelings, experiences and opinions, we welcome you to share them with us through our Facebook page HOARDING / BIRCHALL CONSULTING - SUPPORT AVAILABLETESTIMONIALSLet me introduce myself, my name is Connie Mallory, I am the Chief Inspector with the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Recently one of my officers (Steve Toy) attended a workshop you presented in Kingston, Ontario. He found your work shop to be one of the best that he had ever attended. Since that workshop he has been able to connect with other community partners and has become a member of a committee to address hoarding situations. Connie Mallory as told to her by Steve Toy, a workshop participant Dear Elaine I just wanted to let you know that the help and advice you have given me continues to help me and my family. On occasion, when the "chaos" happens, I refer back to your emails to get a grip and get strength from the words there. On several occasions over the past several months I have nearly contacted you as we have been faced with some difficult situations and decisions about (name withheld). However, lately it appears my sisters and I seem to have become much better at dealing with things. I don't mean to go on about it, but it is true that this summer, as my sisters and I sat around the table trying to figure out how to manage the latest situation, one of my sisters brought down a file of printed emails from you that she had received from me. We used these to help us get a grip. You have no idea how much better off we all are. Things may not work out for (name withheld) but our lives are important too and we are much better at looking after ourselves." Take care and keep in touch, Elaine, "If we hadn't been pushed into it we never would have found any peace in our lives at all, but with the help of Elaine Birchall, we are starting to find ourselves a touch more organized, less cluttered, a lot more money conscious, which makes shopping a lot less enjoyable at the moment but she says this will become fun again for different reasons as time progresses. We are now able to eat at our kitchen table, prepare meals more efficiently, walk across our floors without tripping on things, or walking around things. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A LIVINGROOM FLOOR again. I have decided to take care of myself and my family before taking care of outside commitments and in some cases I have decided to give up my current outside commitments. This is very freeing in so many ways it is hard to explain, but I would recommend this service to anyone who feels overwhelmed by their things, their lives, their responsibilities to others. Thanks Elaine, I hope we can stay in touch even after we are finished with your consulting services. You are like a true lifesaver and friend. Heather in Ottawa I dreaded it (getting counseling & de-cluttering help) even though I asked for it. I have a good job. I'm a success in other areas of my life but my apartment was causing me problems with my landlord. I was afraid that I would be treated like an incompetent, lose control and be "organized" against my wishes. Then if I didn't agree with ideas, I'd be abandoned as a hopeless case! Every week Elaine gave me things to think about. She said that what we did had to work for me, my life, what I really wanted, and she continues to help me figure out what that is. Even though I was Mr. Grumpy, she just kept being positive and real. Finally I asked her to bring in her crew and help me get past the hump of stuff. I really dreaded having so many people (3 & Elaine) in my place. The guys were great, I felt respected and really accepted, Elaine was there to make sure everything went as we had discussed and NOTHING was thrown out without me giving the OK. The whole operation was very respectful. I never would have believed it before but I actually look back on the "Blitz-Day" and remember laughing and joking with the guys, making requests and having them respected. I have a ways to go but trust Elaine to help me get there. She's right I do deserve better than I was settling for! Jim in Lanark |
